Divorce is never easy, emotionally or otherwise. Regardless of who
wants the divorce, emotions run the gamut. Although the percentage of those seeking divorce continues to climb, to the
child of divorcing parents that percentage is 100 percent. When parties participate in protracted litigation and fight with no apparent end in sight, the children
suffer the most. The Collaborative Law process allows participants to settle their
differences in a safe, less hostile environment with attorneys who advocate on their behalf, and neutral professionals specially
trained in the Collaborative Dispute Resolution process. Collaborative Family Law
is different from mediation because an impartial observer is not overseeing the negotiations. Each party retains his
or her own lawyer to provide client advocacy in a team setting to achieve an equitable and amicable settlement, as opposed
to reaching resolution through litigation.
